𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒𝐀𝐍 𝐄𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐢 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐝𝐨-𝐄𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐢

As a member of the Society for Water and Sanitation (NEWSAN) Ekiti chapter, the GoldHeart Foundation participated in the 2024 Menstrual Hygiene Day celebrations under the theme “Together for a #PeriodFriendly World.” The team visited Flourish Academy in Odo-Ekiti to provide menstrual education and distribute sanitary products.

During the event, the GoldHeart Foundation’s health education officer, Mrs. Esther Iseoluwa Oyeyemi, sensitized the students – both boys and girls – on the concept of menstruation. She discussed the various menstrual product options available, emphasizing the importance of using appropriate products like sanitary pads rather than less suitable alternatives such as foam, socks, or old newspapers. Over 75 students attended the session, and 37 girls received Kotex Nigeria sanitary pads.

The students actively participated, asking questions that were thoroughly answered. We would like to express our gratitude to Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development – BIGIF for their support in providing sanitary pads.
