World Drug Day 2023
Educating primary school pupils early on about drug abuse and illicit trafficking is crucial for prevention, awareness, empowerment, establishing norms and values, breaking the cycle, and community safety,
Earlier today, in commemoration of the 2023 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, our team simply equipped 20 pupils of St. Mary Primary School Oye-Ekiti, on how to avoid engaging in drugs and who to report to when anyone gives them any drug substance.
The pupils gave examples of drug substance scenarios such as in the movies, and street.
They committed to reporting anyone trying to introduce drug substances to them and never engaging in such acts.
It was such a safe space creation moment with the pupils. We believe when children understand the consequences and dangers of drugs, they become less likely to experiment with substances or engage in illicit activities.
