Walk Against Drug Abuse
Earlier today, GoldHeart Foundation joined the Ndlea Ekiti State Command to Walk Against Substance Abuse and Drug Trafficking. The event commemorated the 2024 World Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which this year carried the theme “The evidence is clear: Invest in prevention.”
The impactful walk began at the Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, proceeding through key locations like Okesa, Ojomose, Antikankan, Irona, Dallimore, and back to the Fajuyi Pavilion. At various stops along the route – including car parks, motorcycle hubs, and local markets – vital sensitization activities was conducted. Distributed of informative IEC materials highlighting the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities.
It was an enlightening and galvanizing event, underscoring the urgent need to address substance abuse in Ekiti State. We therefore now call on the Ekiti State Government of Nigeria and other organizations to prioritize establishing much-needed drug rehabilitation centers. Such facilities are crucial to turning the tide against addiction and supporting those struggling to reclaim their lives.
Together, we can end the scourge of substance abuse.
