Art Against Child Abuse
Using art to combat gender-based violence (GBV) is a powerful strategy that merges creativity with advocacy. Art can raise awareness, provoke thought, and inspire action, making it an effective tool in the fight against GBV.
In our sessions with the students at Turning Point Academy Ado-Ekiti, our executive director, Dowole Gold Moyinoluwa discussed child abuse, explained various formsβsexual, physical, emotional, and neglect. She used relatable examples, encouraged students to contribute to the discussion and to use their imagination to draw images depicting child abuse and its effects. Additionally, she guided them through the reporting process, referencing the Ekiti GBV law.
The program officer from olivegrangefoundation covered gender-based violence in straightforward language, ensuring the students understood its various forms.
The session was highly interactive, with students asking numerous questions, all of which were answered thoughtfully.
As an organization, we will continue to explore engaging methods to connect with our target population, empowering them to identify and report any forms of abuse.
