𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗶 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗖𝗢𝗘𝗖𝗦𝗢),𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗚𝗖𝗠), 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰.

Friday, on the 9th of February 2024, the Coalition of Ekiti Civil Society Organizations (COECSO) convened its General Coordination Meeting (GCM) at the EDHFO office in Ado-Ekiti. It was a productive session with several key discussions and outcomes. The meeting commenced by extending a warm welcome to the newly registered members, emphasizing the importance of their contributions to the coalition.

Throughout the meeting, significant discussions took place, covering various topics of importance. The achievements of COECSO in 2023 were highlighted, demonstrating the positive impact made by the collective efforts of the organization.

Another crucial area of discussion was capacity-building training for NGOs, emphasizing the need for continuous learning and skill development to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the NGOs associated with COECSO.

The meeting also focused on the registration processes for NGOs at COECSOlevel and at the state level with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Addressing the issue of insecurity in Ekiti State was a prominent agenda item during the meeting. The participants engaged in a comprehensive discussion, highlighting the recent incidents of kidnapping and killings. The gravity of the situation was acknowledged, and the urgent need for collaborative actions to tackle the security challenges was emphasized.

In response to the concerning security situation, a communique on insecurity was drafted during the meeting. This document outlined the concerns, demands, and proposed solutions to combat the prevailing challenges. COECSO intends to effectively communicate this communique to relevant stakeholders and authorities to prompt necessary actions.

Furthermore, the financial secretary election for the coalition took place during the meeting. Our organization, represented by our executive director, emerged as the victor in the vote. This achievement reflects the trust and confidence placed in our organization’s leadership and its commitment to efficient financial management within the coalition.
