Workshop on Using Data to Demand Accountability

GoldHeart Foundation participated in a one-day capacity building workshop on using data to demand accountability from civil society actors and social influencers in Ekiti State. The workshop was organized by the Paradigm Leadership Support Initiative with support from the MacArthur Foundation and in collaboration with the Disability Not A Barrier Initiative . It was held at Delight Hotel & Suites in Ado-Ekiti on June 12, 2024.

During the workshop, participants gained insights on leveraging audit data to hold the government accountable. Topics covered included public finance management (PFM), the public audit cycle, analyzing audit issues, and exploring the “Value for Money” accountability model. Case studies were used in tracking irregularities in government projects and discussed practical steps to engage anti-corruption agencies and accountability institutions using audit data. CSOs recommended strategies to strengthen accountability by using audit information to hold the government accountable.m in the state.

Based on the new knowledge gained, especially around the “Value for Money” platform, as an organization, we plans to leverage this new knowledge to advocate for change in Ekiti State regarding accountability, and transparency.
