In commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025, themed “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention, Break the Cycle,” we attended the Annual War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Conference organized by the Ndlea Ekiti State Command .
The First Lady of Ekiti State, an Ambassador for WADA, was represented by Mrs. Olawunmi Famuyiwa, the Director General of the Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship. She reiterated the importance of community involvement in combating drug abuse, calling on all stakeholders to unite in this critical fight.
Commander Aina Sunday presented the NDLEA’s progress in addressing drug abuse issues in Ekiti, highlighted significant achievements and ongoing challenges.
The event was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Women Affairs, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, representatives from the Ministry of Justice, various Civil Society Organizations, students, and other state and non-state actors.
As an organization, we remain committed to intensifying our efforts in prevention by strengthening our partnership with the NDLEA. We firmly believe that prevention is far more cost-effective than cure, and together, we can make a substantial impact in breaking the cycle of drug abuse.
