Two Orphaned Girls Enrolled in School, Two-years Out-of-School
An NGO enrolled two out-of-school girls back to school in Ondo state — Gold Heart Foundation for Teens and Orphans (GHF)
Gold Heart Foundation for Teens and Orphans enrolled back-to-school two-girl (sisters) in Owo, Ondo state. The two girls lost their both parents a month interval in 2016 and hereafter were being taken care of by their paternal grandmother (Mrs. Mfon) in Owo, a petty trader.
The grandmother, Mrs. Mfon said she was sponsoring them to school since their parents’ demise in 2016 with the support of church members and neighbors but since 2020 during the Covid19 pandemic, everything seem unfavorable, she couldn’t afford to send them back to school after the pandemic even they couldn’t boast of two squads meal. She said “I am happy today because I am in school with them to witness their return to school. God bless GoldHeart Foundation.”
Mrs. Adigun and Pastor. Scott Odigie (GHF team) who handled over the two girls and other educational needs to the headmistress of “The Apostolic Primary School Iloro, Owo” pleaded with the headmistress and head teacher to closely monitor the two girls (Joy, Pry. 5 and Favour, Pry. 6) and endeavor to reach out when necessary while the GHF team will keep providing psychosocial, nutritional, educational and other necessary support for the children.
Mrs. Adigun (GHF team and a public school teacher) said she will keep following up on them in both school and home to ascertain their overall well-being because “they are now also my children and believe God has given me this assignment to do.”
The executive director, Moyinoluwa Ogundowole said “Elementary education is crucial and plays a vital role in the overall growth and development of a child, which will contribute to the child’s ability to navigate through life without being dependent. Through our #Street2School project, we aim to give quality education to 1000 genuine vulnerable children in Nigeria and provide sustainable livelihood support for their caregivers, as God will be helping us through the support of our donors and well-wishers. I appreciate each of our donors making our mission work and I am using this medium to solicit for support and partnership from individuals, NGOs, and other institutions with similar aforementioned objectives. Pastor Scott Odigie in his Facebook post, on 29th January 2023, wrote “I had so much joy today, being a part of this scholarship program.
I was reminded again about the reason for existence. It was a time of excitement, and inner satisfaction that could only come to those who are making an impact in the lives of people and the community at large.
So much love and gratitude from these two orphans; Favour and Joy. They are wonderful kids living with their Grandma.
