Awareness Campaign on SSBs

GoldHeart Foundation and the Disability Not A Barrier Initiative recently organized an awareness campaign at Emmanuel Innovation School in Ijero-Ekiti. The students were Enlightened on the importance of reducing the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and advocated for an increase in the #SSBTax. Many students were taken aback by the startling facts regarding the negative effects of SSB consumption, particularly its link to obesity.

The sensitization program engaged 199 students (85 male and 114 female), along with 4 staff members (3 male and 1 female).

Feedback from the students underscored a significant demand for ongoing awareness initiatives to deepen their understanding of this vital issue.

This campaign not only informed students but also encouraged them to think critically about their dietary choices and the broader implications for public health. Continued efforts in this area are essential to promote healthier habits in the community.
