Advocacy Visit
Today, our executive director, Dowole Gold Moyinoluwa joined Disability Not A Barrier Initiative(DINABI) team pay an advocacy visit to the Commissioner of the Ekiti State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The visit was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olatilu, with the Director, Mrs. Akinleye, in attendance.
The purpose of the advocacy visit was to promote the rights of women and girls with disabilities, particularly in ensuring their freedom from gender-based violence. This effort is supported by funding from the Disability Rights Fund.
The DINABI team sought support to include persons with disabilities in the Ekiti State’s Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Management Committee. Additionally, they advocated for advancing the rights of women and girls with disabilities toward freedom from GBV in Ekiti State.
Copies of policy brief on GBV coordinating mechanisms and disability perspective in Ekiti State and other information, education and communication (IEC) materials which were produced by DINABI were presented to the Permanent Secretary during the visit.
