#EndFGM Campaign
International Womenโs Day is around the corner. One of the issues that affect women is harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM); the intentional procedure that involve the partial or total removal of the external genitalia or other injuries to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.
To #EndFGM we believe everyone should be involved. Teachers passing knowledge to the next generation is an effective tool we adopted in ending female genital mutilation.
With the support of The New Generation Girls & Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD) and UNFPA, we were able to train the 17 teachers at All Saints Nursery/Primary School Ikere-Ekiti for a month on the overview of FGM and why they should support the campaign.
In the concluding session of the training, the teachers demonstrated using their pupils; the FGM messages to pass to their pupils in the classroom, assemble ground, and through drama.
Together we can #EndFGM
